If the gap between the separation bearing and the diaphragm spring is too large, it will cause incomplete separation. When the pedal free stroke is too small, the separation bearing will stick to the diaphragm spring and push it, causing insufficient clamping force, clutch slippage, and increased fuel consumption. Therefore, when you find that you cannot shift gears or start steadily, you should consider checking the clutch.
